ABOUT THIS SERVICE

What is Muscle Injury Treatment?

Muscle injuries range from mild Grade 1 strains to complete Grade 3 tears and are among the most common conditions treated by physiotherapists. They occur in sport, the workplace and everyday activities — and without proper rehabilitation, are highly likely to recur.

At Physio Experts, our HCPC-registered physiotherapists provide a comprehensive muscle injury rehabilitation programme — from acute injury management using evidence-based protocols through to progressive strengthening and full return to sport or work. We treat all major muscle groups including hamstring, quadriceps, calf, hip flexor, rotator cuff, back muscles and more.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Acupuncture Treatment — FAQs

How long does a muscle strain take to heal?
Grade 1 strains heal in 1-2 weeks, Grade 2 in 3-6 weeks. Complete Grade 3 tears may require 3-6 months. Early physiotherapy reduces these timelines significantly.

Should I use ice or heat?
Ice is appropriate in the first 24-48 hours. Heat and massage can be introduced from 48-72 hours once the acute phase has passed.

When can I return to sport?
Return to sport should be based on functional testing criteria — not just the absence of pain. We use evidence-based return-to-sport testing.

Can physiotherapy prevent recurrence?
Yes — addressing strength imbalances, flexibility deficits and movement patterns is proven to significantly reduce recurrence rates.

Do you treat workplace muscle injuries?
Yes — we can provide detailed assessment reports for workplace accident claims, insurance or solicitors if required.
